Bulgarian carrier Globul keeps check on carbon footprint

Globul is Bulgaria’s second largest mobile telecommunications company. In an eco-friendly initiative, the company has reduced 7% of its carbon emissions in 2010. That’s equivalent to 1862 tons of greenhouse gases. The reduction in carbon footprint is mainly from energy-efficient projects across all their bases stations which consumes 52% less fuel and 3.9% less electricity. They also encouraged their customers to use resources responsibly like opting for email bills and recharging pre-paid electronically. This alone resulted in saving 60 tons of paper. Globul also organized initiatives to collect and recycle old handsets, batteries and accessories.

Globul has become a trend setter and mobile operators and companies across the globe must follow their steps and save the earth.
