Dual Screen YotaPhone available in India for Rs 23499


CES 2013 saw the first light of the innovative Yota phone. Yota is a Russian mobile carrier and Yota phone is a from their spin off mobile manufacturing concern. Just in case, if you have been living under the rocks, the Yota phone is a dual screen mobile with a regular touchscreen display at the front and a e-ink display at the back.

In India, the Yota phone (1st generation) will be available through online retailer Flipkart for a price of Rs 23499. The Yota C9660, available in Black and White color variants, has a 4.3 inch full HD screen. It runs on a 1.7 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Processor with 2 GB of RAM. It has a 4.3 inch e-ink display on its back side. Also on the back is the 13 Megapixel primary camera, while the front facing camera is 2 Megapixel. The phone runs on Android Jelly bean and it is powered by a 1800 mAh battery which the company claims to be 7 times more long lasting than conventional batteries.

The phone’s UI is heavily controlled by gestures. You can bring content from the touch display to the e-ink display by two finger swipe downwards. Also the Android menu buttons are replaced by touch gestures. The e-ink display is not a touch screen, but the chin beneath it is capacitive touch which is used to navigate the content in the screen.

The second generation Yota phone 2 is also expected to hit the Indian shores soon.
