Google Pixel launched – Pricing in India and other details
The first nexus mobile was a developer device. It was a mobile model on which developer test new features of android and develop applications for forth coming android versions. It was a developer centric device until the Nexus S came into picture. Samsung, being the Chengiz Khans or Napoleans of Marketing, they made the nexus name ring a bell in every customer’s mind. Eventually the Nexus 5 became a huge success. But then Google and their partners, took the game on their own hands and ruined the Nexus concept with Nexus 6, 5x and 6P. Eventually the project ran into a dead end and Google had to scrap it. R.I.P. Nexus.
This year, Google takes the reins in its own hands and decides to play the Apple strategy. They decided to make both the hardware and software. This is a completely new strategy, compared to Nexus. At a very lengthy, dull and monotonous launch event, Google has introduced two new mobiles: Pixel and Pixel XL.
Google Pixel and Pixel XL are both powered by the same hardware. Google Pixel XL has a 5.5 inch display, while the Pixel has a 5 inch display. XL has a 3450 mAh battery and the smaller Pixel has a 2770 mAh battery. Apart from these size and battery differences, if there is any that is differentiating these two variants, that would be the price.

Google talked about the user experience more than the technical specifications during the event, which is a good thing. But they had to take a dig on iPhone with that scoff when they said the devices have 3.5 mm audio jack. The camera on these devices claim to be the best on mobile devices so far with a DXOMark score of 89. The devices come with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. They will have a new pixel laucher, the all new google assistant, duo and allo apps along with the usual suite of google apps. Pixel and Pixel XL will be available black, silver and limited edition blue.
In India these device will be available from October 13th. Flipkart is the official online retailer while the mobile will also be available in brick and mortar setups like Chroma, Reliance Digitial, etc…
It has be more than camera on a mobile to impress me. Let’s wait and see if the Google Pixel is here to stay.
