Oneplus Silver Bullet and JBL E1+ audio accessories
While I was unboxing the Oneplus One, I was pretty excited and for a moment I completely forgot that the box was missing the earphones. Now it has become quite normal for mobile manufacturers to ship devices without earphones in them. This trend was started by Moto G. The idea behind this is pretty simple. The device by itself is priced competitively. Now if they have to include headphones, they are going to be real cheap. Cheap earphones mean cheap audio experience. But the device by itself is a great device and it would be logical to have a great earphone along with it. So some manufacturers like Motorola, Xiaomi and now the Oneplus decided not to include any kind of earphones along with the device. People can buy their own preferred earphones or use the ones that usually lie around in the house. Xiaomi and Oneplus sell their earphones separately. I own a pair of the Xiaomi Mi Pistons earphone along with my Oneplus and it is absolutely marvelous.
Oneplus recently announced two earphone models as accessories that will be sold separately, but will completely the looks and experience of its flagship model, or rather the flagship killer model, the Oneplus +1.
OnePlus Silver Bullet Earphones, priced at 15$, looks very similar to the Mi Pistons. Oneplus also partnered with JBL and announced the launch of JBL E1+ Earphones in their accessories line up. Though the JBL E1+ is an exclusive design for the Oneplus, it has a lot of resemblance with the JBL Syncros E10 in-ear headphones. The JBL E1+ may look a bit pricy with its 40$ price tag, but that is one of the ways the company is exploring for making money.
We will not sell accessories at cost, and will keep a reasonable margin on them. If a customer buys accessories together with our device, we can earn a few dollars. – Carl Pei, Director, Oneplus.
I have not tested either of these headphones, but I do have a good feeling about them. Do check them out.
