Ringo offers local calls at 19/min in India

The International calling app, Ringo, has launched the local and STD calling in India. Ringo users can now call any landline or mobile number in the country at a rate of mere 19 p/min, without paying additional charges for roaming, or top-up cards. Unlike other apps, Ringo uses telephone networks instead of phone data or the Internet for a phone call and the best part is it can even make calls if the recipient of the call does not have the app installed.

“At standard rate of 19 paise, it is 90% cheaper than most carriers and 25% cheaper than the most popular calling apps that are Internet based,” said Ringo. As the promotional offer, the app offered free talktime of 50 minutes early adopters who installed the app for the first time. The users can earn more credits by downloading apps in the offers section and by referring the friends. The promotional free talktime may not be available as you are reading it now as it has been reduced to 5 free minutes. Ringo wanted to contain adoption rate and improvise on their service before expanding to the masses. But still, you can download the Ringo app on iOS, Android or Windows Phone and register to start using it.
